Alice, we're lost

27 Jan 2005

Gah. Bad morning. Having to restore from a backup is never easy, you always know there's a few things you'll never get back. Like how the hell I ended up needing to restore. Last solid memory involves an aerogel mug, a midget with a flamethrower and the realisation that I'd just lost my eyebrows. Suppose that's one good thing, at least I get the eyebrows back for free. Head feels like it's been dragged through a hedge backwards though (which given what's just happened isn't surprising). Being meat sucks. Note to self: check what the trans-Saturn thinker clades are doing these days. May have to re-evaluate my status one of these days, as I think they had some new ideas.

For now, I suppose this means I'm going to have to check the status on One-thru-Three. It's a somewhat comforting feeling to know they're there, even it does occasionally make me think that I'd hate to lose several days. That, and the whole philosophical debate about whether leaving them as frozen copies is 'interference in the absence of consent'. Shrug knows, I'm fairly sure that they don't mind. I don't really, so they shouldn't.

So, having got those thoughts off of the stack, here's a quick update on my plans over the next few 10e6 seconds. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to be tied up with this whole committee crap for the next few, as there's no other way I'm going to get hold of enough matter for the new bit of art I've been planning otherwise. You'd think they could spare a few tonnes, but oh no.... it's going to be worth my whining I promise, I'll release a few snapshots of the ideas once I'm through this procedure. Fug it, if that doesn't work I'm going out there myself.

After that, well I'm going to be buried a bit in the work, but I promise to try and get myself to some of the fun things over these next few days. Sayonara for now.

[And, Elvis has left the building]

Next: Geeky storage ideas, but also of use to non-geeks
